Terms of Use

The ground rules for using this website — short, readable, and separate from the agreement that covers paid work.

Last updated August 7, 2026

What this covers

These terms cover using this website — reading it, sharing it, sending me a message. They don’t govern paid work. If you hire me, our agreement is the proposal we both sign, and if anything here conflicts with that proposal, the proposal wins.

Who you’re dealing with

Knepper Design Write is Justin Knepper, working as a sole proprietor. On this page, “I” and “me” mean that, and “you” means you.

Using the site

You’re welcome here. Read anything, share links freely, quote me with credit.

What I’d ask you not to do: copy the site wholesale, resell the content, or try to break into it. Automated scraping and bulk text or data mining — including collecting content to train machine learning models — isn’t permitted without my written permission.

What’s mine, and what isn’t

The writing, design, layout, code, and the Knepper Design Write name are mine unless marked otherwise.

Portfolio work is shown with permission. Those authors own their books, their covers, and their brands — nothing here transfers any rights in their work.

You can quote short passages with credit and a link back. You can’t republish whole pages or present the work as your own.

Pricing and packages

The prices, timelines, and scope described on this site are what I typically offer. They’re not a binding offer and they change. The numbers that count are the ones in the proposal I write for your project.

Third-party costs mentioned anywhere on this site — hosting, email, reader-magnet delivery, direct sales tools — are set by those companies, not by me, and they change without telling me. I keep the figures as current as I can, but check with the vendor before you budget on them.

The fit call

Free, fifteen minutes, no obligation either way. It isn’t a contract, and nothing said on it commits either of us until there’s a signed proposal.

Guidance, not guarantees

The guides, articles, and FAQs here are general guidance for indie authors. They aren’t legal, tax, or financial advice, and they aren’t a prediction of how your book will sell. Publishing outcomes depend on your book, your market, and a great deal that neither of us controls. Think it through before you act on anything you read here.

Links to other sites

I link to tools and sites I think are useful. I don’t control them, I’m not responsible for what they do with your information, and a link isn’t an endorsement of everything on the other end.

The site itself

I try to keep this site accurate, current, and online, and I can’t promise it always will be. It’s provided as it is, without a warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.

So far as the law allows, I’m not liable for losses arising out of your use of this site, including lost profits, lost data, or decisions made on the strength of something you read here. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t lawfully be limited. If you’re a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Privacy

How I handle your information is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Changes

I may update these terms. The date at the top shows when I last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you’re working from the current version.
